  • technology and standardization

The International Information Industry Congress supports the principles of private enterprise and a free economy. It has the task of promoting the interests of its members throughout the world by strengthening the national associations through a sharing of knowledge and experience and providing a forum for identifying common issues and views.

In the past, the International Information Industry Congress has achieved significant success in preparing the Information Technology Agreement, which establishes a global customs-free zone for IT products. The IIIC has had a strong influence on the G7 ministerial conference on the Global Information Infrastructure and on the G7 ministerial conference on the information society in developing countries. Other fields of the IIIC's activity are environmental affairs, standardization and certification, intellectual property rights, and the Year 2000 issue.
