"New Numbers For A New Economy: Why the Information Society Needs New Economic Measurements" - ITIC - USA

Rhett Dawson noted that Les Simon had circulated a further refinement of his original paper but that no further work had been done.

Action: After considerable discussion, ITI agreed to prepare a paper on the need for governments to take the lead in developing new indicators that would reflect:
  • the evolving impact of IT on society
  • the impact of this dis-intermediation
  • the evolving issues relating to personal privacy and personalization
  • measuring productivity in the knowledge economy
Action: ITIC will provide a date by which a draft of this discussion paper will be ready.
